The plan for this week is to model and design my rain garden after investigation and research. I finally chose the location in Aotea Square. I found some similar examples to learn the benefits and learn from the experience. The goal is to develop a resilient urban water feature that manages stormwater and incorporates sustainability and cultural significance. The main goal is to manage runoff from surrounding streets and buildings and reduce urban flooding. Provide a practical green space for local people. Aotea Square presents a unique urban environment, and I focused on successfully implementing a rain garden in a public space with heavy traffic. Checking out projects in New Zealand and other regions with similar climates helps me understand which plants and materials work best. I plan to build a 70-80 square meter garden. I use a basic hand-drawn design for initial sketches to explore different layouts, then use digital tools like Adobe Illustrator to make a more elaborate plan.
